Accessibility Statement
Welcome to the Backyou.io accessibility page. We want to make our site accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities (visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, etc.). This page describes our commitments, the technical measures in place, known limitations, and how to contact us if you encounter difficulties.
Commitment
Backyou.io strives to comply with international accessibility standards and is committed to:
Designing and maintaining digital content usable by as many people as possible.
Continuously improving the accessibility of our services.
Responding promptly and seriously to feedback and requests for assistance related to accessibility.
Target Level
We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. This means we follow good practices regarding:
The structure and semantics of content (headings, lists, ARIA tags when needed)
Keyboard navigation
Alternative text for images
Color contrast and readability
Media handling (subtitles, transcripts or suitable alternatives)
Preventing flashing content or anything likely to provoke seizures
Note: The goal is to reach and maintain this level, but some pages or third-party content may not be fully compliant immediately. We are working to correct those parts.
What We Have Done So Far
Use of a semantic and coherent HTML structure.
Keyboard navigation possible for main interactions (menus, forms, key actions).
Alternative text provided for content and decorative images when relevant.
Text contrast adhering to recommended ratios for most color/text combinations.
Accessible forms with explicit labels and error indications.
Videos accompanied by subtitles or transcript options where possible.
Regular accessibility testing using automated tools and manual checks.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations may remain:
Content provided by third parties (widgets, embedded videos, external documents) that does not always meet all accessibility rules.
Older pages or older PDF files not fully adapted.
Some animations or transitions may cause discomfort for sensitive users; we are seeking to reduce or provide options to disable them.
We are actively working on major items including:
Updating and replacing old PDFs with accessible versions.
Thorough contrast checks on some pages where background images interfere with text.
Strengthening user testing, including people with disabilities.
Technologies and Tools Used
We use the following for ensuring accessibility: HTML5, ARIA (where necessary and properly implemented), responsive CSS, keyboard focus management, and accessible controls for interactive components. We also use automated accessibility audit tools and manual checks.
Testing and Quality Control
Our accessibility controls combine:
Automated analysis tools to detect common errors.
Manual tests (keyboard navigation, screen reader usage).
Contrast and readability reviews.
Feedback from users and targeted user testing.
Non-Text Content and Media
Images: We provide alternative text when they are useful for understanding. Decorative images are marked as such.
Videos: Where possible, we offer subtitles and/or transcripts. If embedded media is not accessible, we indicate an alternative (a link to a transcript, or contact for obtaining content in another format).
Downloadable Documents
Documents (PDF, DOCX, etc.) on the site are gradually being replaced or redone to be accessible. If you need a document in another format (plain text, properly structured Word, accessible PDF, etc.), please contact us indicating:
The URL of the document
The desired format
Any specific requirement (e.g. larger font, high contrast)
Mobile Accessibility
Backyou.io follows responsive design practices to ensure a good experience on mobile devices and tablets (tap targets large enough, coherent navigation, adaptable content).
Browser Compatibility
We test our site in current and maintained browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) as well as common screen readers. However, some older browser versions may not support all accessibility features.
